That’s why when Dennis Pang recommended we stop at Ajisai Sushi Bar in Kerrisdale, I was more than happy to try it out. This place is super packed during lunch time and it’s no wonder why. This little hole in the wall is probably one of the best places to get sushi in Kerrisdale.
I ordered the Chirashi bowl, served with several pieces of raw fish which were all very tasty and manageable pieces to enjoy. But what I loved most about this Chirashi bowl is the rice itself. Weird, because I never get excited over rice. Ever. But what is exciting about this rice is that it’s got pieces of Japanese pickle and mushroom mixed into it. I barely finish my rice in my dons, but I ate every grain on this plate. Amazing. All the pieces of fish had a great flavour to them.
The bowl is served with some miso soup, nothing to write home about but a nice way to start your meal.
