Last week, Chewies Steam and Oyster Bar Coal Harbour opened their doors for business. Taking over the old Miku spot, they have revamped the entire restaurant to make it their own (complete with brass instruments sculpture!). I love what theyโve done with the place, it is similar in style to the Chewies in Kitsilano – high tops and comfortable seating. Also love the open kitchen and open oyster bar concept they have running at this location too.
We were graciously invited to their media event and got to preview some of the menu. We started off with a caesar which packed a nice spicy punch. Probably one of the best caesars in town (Iโm not going to lie, Iโm not a big caesar fan but I really enjoyed it here in comparison to other places!).
First off the salads – a Kale Salad and the PeaceMaker Cobb Salad. This Peacemaker Cobb Salad has a variety of delicious items in it that I must come back to try!
ย We also got to try the Fried Gator & Hush Puppies (corn hush puppies), Fried Green Tomato & Prawns, Fried Fanny Bay Oysters, Blackened Albacore Tuna, Fried Chicken on a Biscuit and of course, Freshly shucked oysters. To die for!
What I love about Chewies is definitely their customer service, they are genuinely friendly (and not in a fake give-me-your-tips sort of way) as if you were hanging out with friends. Also ladies, youโre looking at a restaurant with a predominantly male wait staff, so you have that going for you too.
For now, it looks like Chewies Coal Harbour is serving dinner – but hopefully they will expand to brunch like they have at their Kitsilano location! I look forward in frequenting this restaurant real soon.
