Burgoo (Main)

I’m thinking this place is known mostly for its comfort food- the best of the menu includes their mac and cheese, gooey cheese sandwiches and their fondue (which is amazing). I’ve been here a couple times before and maybe it’s what I order, but I never thought of it as being a must-eat kind of place (the fondue is great, but that alone wont pull me off my lazy butt and drive there).

Putting all past notions aside, I wanted to try something new. That’s when I met Kathy (a friend and the woman who was pimping the Gastrofork table at BFtQ) to drop off some biko to her.

We both wanted to try something that came recommended to us: Dos Diablos. It’s kind of the same deal as the gooey cheese sandwiches but with a kick of spice, jalapenos, red peppers and chorizo sausage.

I ordered it with a side caesar salad, while I appreciate the use of whole wheat croutons, I found the dressing to be quite bland. It almost just taste like mayonnaise to me so I had to add pepper and I wish they had given me a slice of lemon to spruce it up a bit.

Anyway, we came for the sandwich and not the salad! I did like the taste of the sandwich and it was definitely an indulgence with its butter and cheese fried bread. I couldn’t finish it and I’m glad I didnt because I felt so sleepy after all the grease!

Food:
I cant say I’m a fan but Burgoo has its charm of warm comfort food that my friends seem to enjoy. I dont think I would go out of my way to visit though.

Ambiance:
Continuing with the comfort theme, the spot is cozy, warm earth tone with strong wooden design as well. They have a patio as well (that is also heated).
