A couple months ago when it was still grilling/BBQ season, I came across short ribs in my local supermarket and I thought to myself – wouldn’t it be great to be able to make those delicious Korean BBQ Short Ribs at home? Then I got to thinking, maybe I can.

So I looked up a recipe – in hopes that I would find one that wasn’t too complicated. I went between these two recipes from AllRecipes and Maangchi. I still have yet to try making it with said asian pear, but I find this recipe manages to get the taste of it just fine.

Ingredients for Marinade:

3/4 cup soy sauce
3/4 cup brown sugar
3/4 cup water
3-6 garlic cloves
1 tablespoon sesame oil
half an onion chopped

This marinade is good for about 6 slices of short rib, so adjust accordingly.

Place the short ribs in the marinade – over night is best but even just for an hour or two is okay if you’re looking for something today.
