They have all your typical pub fare – Steak & Guinness Pot Pie, Bangers and Mash, and also your typical Gastown fare: charcuterie plate, olives, sandwiches etc. They also have a fairly extensive cocktail, beer and wine menu.
For lunch I dined with one of my favourite foodies, Ange of FoodPunk. I ordered the Fraser Valley Turkey Breast ($12) and she ordered the Albacore Tuna Melt ($12).
I didn’t think much of my sandwich, the turkey was a little dry and so was the bread it was served on (in fact, I thought it might’ve been lightly toasted, but no, it was just dry). My soup was Clam Chowder, with very little clams in it and a little bit on the watery side. I know, I know I should’ve sent it back, but I really felt like I couldn’t care less to send it back. I feel like the only time I would send food back is if it was completely inedible (burnt) or had strange things in it.
I’d like to come back to the Irish Heather, but probably for drinks with friends in the evening- as most pubs function better this way! I also hear their Long Table Series is great, so perhaps I’ll come back to try this one day.
