Specializes In: Fast Food (I even have a section dedicated to it)
Her Most Recent Discovery: Montreal Bagels! I just visited Montreal a few weeks ago and I swear they have the most amazing bagels you will ever have! I usually avoid bagels, but it was the best 70 cents I have ever spent.
One Thing She Will Never Eat: I can usually eat anything that is legally available in North America, but Bitter Melon just tastes super bad to me. I know it’s supposed to be very healthy for you, but I’d rather eat a cucumber.
Tell us a little about yourself and why you got into food blogging: I just graduated from Simon Fraser University with a Bachelor of Business Administration specializing in Management Information Systems and Marketing. I can be a major geek sometimes and love anything StarWars or TinTin related.
About two years ago, my friend got accepted into medical school and we wanted a way to stay in touch, so we created Foodology to share our food adventures about West and East Coast restaurants. We both love eating food and eat out quite frequently, so we thought it was the perfect topic. After a while, she got super busy, so I took over the site and evolved it into the way it is today.
What Do You Want to Try Out Next?: I really want to try out the restaurant – Salmon n’ Bannock! I tried a few of their items at EAT! Vancouver and was hooked on their pickled salmon. Plus, it’s not that common to have some authentic first nations cuisine.
If you could switch places with one chef who would it be and what would you do?: I really admire Jamie Oliver and all the work that he has done over the years as a chef and a change maker through his shows – Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution and Jamie’s School Dinners. I would go into the schools in the Lower Mainland and bring more healthier and sustainable options in to cafeteria. When I was in High School, I would remember having cookies, fries, KFC and burgers for lunch. It’s quite unhealthy, but there really were not a large amount of options.
