Which brings me to my next point – what defines ‘real’ Greek food? What is an authentic Greek food experience? We all know that sushi is Japanese food but not an every day Japanese diet. If you have any suggestions or thoughts on the subject, I sure would like to hear them.
Back to Stepho’s. The best time to go to Stepho’s in my opinion is lunch time – especially right when they open. Otherwise, you’re looking at a lineup. My parents are all about being early so we stood outside the Stepho’s for about 10-15 minutes before they opened.
We were seated immediately and we knew what we were going to order already (no need for a menu)! I ordered the Kalamaria Dinner (yes, it was lunch but I ordered the dinner, don’t judge me!) and my parents both ordered the Roast Lamb.
Both platters are served with a loving helpful of rice pilaff, greek salad and roast potatoes. I had to take an aerial view of my food because it was quite the mountain of kalamari. I’m pretty sure I took out an entire ecosystem with my plate. The kalamari is crisp, a bit chewy and perfect with the tzaziki sauce. I love the rice and the potatoes – the potatoes are a bit on the lemony side, so it might not be your cup of tea. The salad is good, nothing too spectacular and probably the healthiest part of this plate.
The roast lamb is a great dish. Like I’ve mentioned previously, I’m not a big fan of lamb because of it’s gamey taste but here at Stepho’s I could order a dish to myself and enjoy it because the taste isn’t as apparent in this dish.
