Salsa and Agave

Another long overdue post, Liane and I visited Salsa and Agave. Liane was just finishing up meeting with her group from school, so I met her downtown to have a bite. We wanted to go somewhere further down Denman but with the weather being very disagreeable, we decided to stay closeby (Yaletown). We had both heard of this place and thought we’d try it out.

There was a bit of a line up when we arrived, but we didn’t wait too long – maybe 25 minutes at most. I have to apologize for my terrible photos, it was quite dark and I didn’t bring my bigger camera with me, so I was stuck with my iPhone camera.

We started off with some tortilla chips and salsa. it wasn’t so bad, the chips were nicely salted and the salsa was pureed with less chunky tomato bits. Also, drinks. I’m not quite sure what Liane had but I had a Cuba Libre (made with cola, lime and rum). It was really refreshing and a nice way to kick off an evening of catching up.

For dinner, Liane ordered four tacos ($9)- Pollo, Lengua, Carne Asada and Carnitas. They are served with salsa, lime, onions and cilantro on the side. They looked quite good and she enjoyed them.

I ordered the Carne Asada burrito ($9) which is served with avocado sauce and sour cream on the side. I enjoyed my burrito, it was a big portion and the cheese was nice and melted in the middle.

Salsa and Agave is quite the busy spot, no matter whether you go on a weekday or weekend in the evening. The restaurant inside is a little on the small side, but I do believe they are expanding the last time I walked by.
