I can’t compare this Jethro’s to the other, seeing that I personally have never been (shocking, I know) but if you’re looking for great diner food with ridiculous portions that would make an American diner cry, you’ve found the right place!
Amy ordered the Crab Cake Benedict ($12) which is made in house with poached eggs and hollandaise sauce. It’s served with hash browns and toast. The Bennys were great because the crab cake was the base rather than bread. I had a bite and it was delicious, I might have to order it the next time I visit.
I was a little torn whether I wanted to order something savoury or sweet, but my sweet tooth (as always) won. I ordered the Rooster ($11). They are these massive pancakes made with a shot of espresso and dark chocolate chips folded into their butter milk pancakes and topped with whipped cream. These INSANELY huge pancakes couldn’t fit on my dish. Two big pancakes and I barely made a dent in them (even with Amy’s help!). They were tasty and not too sweet. They put just the right amount of dark chocolate and a little hint of espresso for it to be enjoyable and not feel like your teeth would fall out from the sweetness.
I’m a little embarrassed to admit it, but even two days later I’m still eating the leftovers (but they’re still delicious!).
I can’t really comment much on the service but it wasn’t bad, they weren’t hovering over us and asking us how our meal was which was nice since I got to question Amy about her recent visit to Orlando.
I really enjoyed my first experience at Jethro’s, the portions are massive and for the price you pay, it really is worth it. My advice is to go on a weekday before 12, as it seems there is little to no wait to get inside! Check this place out before it gets too busy!
When we went (July 11, 2013), they were only accepting cash (no plastic yet!).
