Some enchanted evening ago, I was delighted to break bread (note bread, not bad) with my best friend, Nickie at one of my favourite places in the city – Mosaic. As with most high end restaurants in Vancouver it seems, it is located in a hotel so it’s a little tricky to find for some. The Chef at Mosaic, Chef Thomas Heinrich has been with the Hyatt for several years now and is definitely a global traveller looking for amazing meals. The imagination and detail that goes into every dish is a reflection of this passion.

This is why when VANEATS announced that they were doing another package with Mosaic, I was more than happy to oblige to share it here on the blog.

Please note that I was invited by VANEATS to review this package, my meal was paid for by the Hyatt.

With the VANEATS Mosaic Harvest Package ($27), you get:

We chose to go with the Apple Bisque the Sous Vide Lamb and we got to try both desserts!

The Apple Bisque is made with roasted chestnut and spiced brandy cream. The mixture of tastes in this soup is nice – the chestnut is obviously apparent but is cleaned up nicely with a slightly sweet taste from the apples. The best thing to do is scrape your spoon through some of the spiced brandy cream with every bite!

We ordered the Sous Vide Lamb served with broccoli rabe, butternut squash and spiced walnuts. I’ve mentioned in previous posts that I am not a big fan of lamb but I will always get it here at Mosaic. It is by far, the best lamb I have experienced, anywhere. It is so tender and meaty with a very slight game taste. Looking at this photo while I’m writing this review is already making me crave for some right now! The butternut squash is a nice, sweet addition and the broccoli rabe has a hint flavour of wasabi or horseradish – a nice aftertaste.

Finally, the desserts.

The Pumpkin and Nutmeg Creme Brûlée was fantastic. It definitely is a nice change of flavour for a creme brûlée and perfect for the fall. If you’re a big pumpkin fan, you’ll want to try this. It’s creamy, a little spicy and perfectly sweet. I especially enjoyed the biscotti served alongside with it!

The Mosaic Chocolate Cake is their signature dessert. This cake is massive and I hear they serve this to you in it’s full glory on your birthday! I absolutely love chocolate, so I really enjoyed this chocolate cake. You’ll need a tall glass of milk to finish this baby off. We didn’t at the restaurant, but it didn’t survive that long when I got home!

I would definitely recommend getting this package from VANEATS, its a great value for a higher end restaurant. The dishes served here are nice dishes with some interesting twists, so it’s well worth the experience!
