This evening, my final Dine Out – I am joined by Brian, Jen and Ben who are new parents! We used to eat out with them a little more frequently, so it’s nice to have them join us for a dinner again.
There are a lot of choices on this Dine Out menu but I stuck with the West Coast Mussels, Flashed Seared Albacore Tuna and the Chocolate Concorde Cake. I found that a lot of their dishes are French inspired, especially in this particular menu, so it was a good experience!
The West Coast Mussels are served in white wine, parsley and butter. My mussels were a generous helping! I wasn’t expecting that many mussels – it’s good for one person if you’re really hungry or perfect to share (which we did). The Mussels are fresh, has the perfect ‘bounce’ to them when you’re eating them and are fragrant in the parsley and white wine sauce. It was very enjoyable.
My dining partners ordered the Beet & Brie Salad (grilled pears, arugula, pumpkin seeds and pomegranate vinaigrette) and the Tiger Prawn Cakes (with lobster curry emulsion). I had a nibble of Brian’s Tiger Prawn Cakes and they were delicious – lightly breaded and 100% tiger prawns on the inside, it was akin to having a shrimp dumpling during dim sum! The lobster curry emulsion gave the cakes a little bit of flair.
The Flash Seared Albacore Tuna is served with orange, green onion and ginger relish with crispy shallots atop. And interesting balance, the tuna is served with orange to keep the taste fresh and slightly sweet and tangy. I’m not a big fan of ginger, but the taste is mild and only served to compliment the fish. The portion served was good and perfect for one person.
My friends ordered the Grilled Flat Iron Steak (sliced with red wine glaze) and the Roasted Wild Sockeye Salmon (olive and pine nut relish in a bouillabaisse sauce). I had a little bite of the Grilled Flat Iron steak and it was nicely done to a medium rare. I’m not quite sure what it is, but the steak itself had an interesting taste on the surface – I can only best describe it as some sort of a Middle Eastern spice rub perhaps? Jen’s salmon looked delicious and she mentioned that it wasn’t overcooked.
For my side, I went with the Mushroom medley they had a top some toast. It was very delicious and perfect if you’re a mushroom lover like me! Brian ordered the Squash as a side and it was slightly caramelized from cooking, so it too was good.
Finally, dessert is the Chocolate Concorde Cake with raspberry coulis. This cake is fairly sweet and decadent, but thankfully the raspberry coulis helps cut the sweetness of the dish. Apparently the name Concorde cake comes from when Air France flew it’s jet (the concorde) back in 1969 and was created by French Chef Gaston Leontre. The cake is delicious and satisfied my sweet tooth.
Brian ordered the Vanilla Bean Creme Brûlée served with an almond biscotti, Ben ordered the Frozen espresso terrine and Jen ordered the Sticky Toffee Pudding with creme anglaise.
Our Dine Out Menu for this restaurant was $38, it was good value. Our server David was extremely welcoming and entertaining and we really had a great time. Bridges is a great place to take a date or even hang out at when their patio re-opens for the spring and summer. Their large windows make it easy to people watch and watch boats go by. There is parking right outside of the restaurant for 3 hours and is easily accessible by bus.
Be sure to check out their menu here. Their Dine Out Menu is available here too.
