Homely. Kitschy. Down to earth. Real. Many adjectives to describe Kihei Caffe. There are lineups on a daily basis that wind out of the small shop and onto it’s patio. The wait can sometimes be more than 40 minutes, but people will happily (and patiently) wait. After my friends had mentioned it to me, we had to check it out.

Thankfully, we must’ve arrived at a good time as our lineup was just two people out the door then us. Once inside, the lineup moves quick but you’re slammed with a lot of choices to make! Well my friends, it seems like there aren’t any bad choices on the menu.

Interestingly enough, we came here right after I had breakfast – so yay for second breakfast? Brian and Brendan accompanied me and they both ordered the Loco Moco. The Loco Moco is a local dish that’s quite popular and consists of eggs, a ground beef patty, rice and gravy. Oh my god that gravy.

Still a bit stuffed, I went for a Cinnamon roll that was slathered in delicious cream cheese icing and sprinkled with macadamia nuts and an iced mocha.

Big but simple portions is what this caffe is known for. The service is friendly and laid back – a trait that most places have when visiting Hawaii!
