Prior to watching Avengers: Age of Ultron in Coquitlam, Nickie suggested we go to The Place (4 Pasta & Pizza). On Tuesdays, they have $8 pasta specials where ALL their pastas are served for under ten bucks.

What I love about The Place? It’s not trying to be anything that they’re not – they aren’t upscale and pretentious. They’re a place you take your family to and enjoy the luxury of not cooking at home. The staff is genuinely friendly.

If you’re coming on a Tuesday, I’d suggest making reservations as this place gets busy during dinner time.

We started off with Fried Calamari ($9) and a House Salad ($9). The calamari was nice, the breading is crispy and it’s served with a roasted red pepper ricotta dip – slightly sweet but a nice touch. The salad is a nice heap of different vegetables.

Nicole had the baked Cannelloni made with ground beef, pork, spinach, vegetables and cheese and baked in a rose sauce.

Brian had the Spaghetti Amalfi – shrimp and scallops in a rose sauce.

I had the Fettucini Fumato. It’s made with smoked duck, sweet corn and wild mushrooms in a creamy Alfredo sauce and a drizzle of truffle oil.

I think of all the dishes I tried, I really enjoyed mine the best. The fettuccini was cooked al dente and had the right amount of sauce/oil so that it wasn’t too heavy and still quite flavourful. There were enough pieces of the smoked duck that I was quite satisfied with the protein in my dish.
