Portland is a food mecca. And one of the top places to go to worship would be Pok Pok. With several different outlets, you get a different experience at each. Thankfully Ike’s wings are served at every location.

We went to try out Pok Pok Noi, which is a smaller menu but still just as delicious.

Khao Soi ($15.50)- this is moreso a soup with noodles than an actual curry dish. The flavours were bright and the chicken was so tender it fell off the bone.

Its served with pickled vegetables, onions, chili paste and lime on the side. You’ll want to add everything into it. It’s on the milder side if you’re not a big fan of heat.

We also ordered a daily special ($12) which were rice noodles, peanuts, pineapple, ginger, lime, Thai chillies in a coconut broth. This dish is served cold. I liked the flavours- there was a lot more ginger than I normally enjoy but the pineapple seem to cut it’s strength. This dish has a nice heat to it, so if you enjoy a medium spicy dish, this is perfect for you. Our server suggested we add fish sauce which also help balance out the ginger flavour.

And ceremoniously, we ordered the infamous Ike’s Vietnamese Fish Sauce Wings ($15). Its a definite must order when visiting. The salty, sweet and spicy balance of these wings make it a treat to experience, it would be hard to find anything like it anywhere else (believe me, I’ve tried). Come early, as there is always a lineup!
