If there’s one thing that is certain in Portland (asides from keeping it weird), it’s the endless supply of coffee shops. I’m almost 100% certain that it’s impossible to have a bad cup of coffee in Portland.

One coffee shop that we happened upon was about a block away from the condo we rented for the weekend – Upstream Coffee & Eatery.

They serve an assortment of coffee, loose leaf tea, smoothies, some sandwiches and cafe fare. Oh and let’s not forget they do serve Stumptown Cold Brew, Kombucha and Seasonal beer on tap! What caught my attention about this particular coffee shop is their signature drinks with names like “Holy Kakow Mocha”, “Pirate’s Chai Tea Latte” and “Kona the Coconut”. Very cool. They also have seasonal drinks and during our vacation, they had the Spiced Mexican Mocha. Intriguing. I’ve had Mexican Hot Chocolates and Mochas previously, and really enjoyed the interesting flavour of spicy and sweet.

Here it is a nice, delicate balance of spicy and sweet – not overly sweet to mask the roast of the beans. This is their only location but worth a drop by if you’re walking around their pier area.
