I recently went to Made With Love ’s Vancouver Regional Finals. With 14 bartenders competing in Vancouver, this competition between bartenders and mixologists is the largest in Canada at the moment!
During the evening, you get to experience all the competing drinks, which means you get to be pretty tipsy by the end of it! When you arrive, you receive a dog tag and whomever you decide makes the best cocktails will receive it.
From this, there are two winners – Public’s Choice and Judges’ Choice. These finalists go on to represent Vancouver at the National Finals held next year in May.
I gave mine to Chelsea Rose Schlute from Torafuku and her Painters Brush – it’s Disaronno, basil, white pepper, burnt lemon shrub, lemon juice, Bittered Sling cherry and chocolate bitters with caramelized lemon and basil leaf. It was a wonderful, refreshing cocktail that stuck with me through the night.
Chelsea went on to win Public’s Choice! Congratulations!
I definitely recommend checking out this event next year, but if you’re based in Mexico, Halifax or Montreal – you still have a chance to grab tickets for this event.
