Taste of Yaletown is back for it’s 12th year – this year it’s focusing on smaller plates and bites so that you may hop around one of the 30 restaurants participating this year.
If it’s your first time experiencing Taste of Yaletown, there are set menus (typically 2-3 courses, but some places offer more) that are at $25, $35 and $45 price points. Most places book up quickly, so best to secure a reservation as soon as you can.
The event runs from today (Oct 13) until the 27th – so if you haven’t had a chance to check out some of the new places popping up in Yaletown, now would be a good time to do so.
Here are my recommendations for this year:
I haven’t had the chance to check this place out yet, but I hear great things about this upscale Vietnamese restaurant. What really caught my eye is their Can Tho-Ky fried quail dish and their Asian Cream Pie made with coconut meringe, passionfruit custard, yuzu and chyrsanthemum jelly.
La Pentola is always a solid choice, they have some great items on the menu like taglierini with octopus and a delicious gorgonzola risotto.
The Parlour serves up some great pizza combinations. My favourite is Goldmember – caramelized onions, mushroom duxelle, yukon gold potatoes, truffle oil, gruyere and mozza!
It’s been a while since I’ve been to Provence and they have certainly upgraded their interior design – very beautiful and sleek. I was invited to preview their dishes for Taste of Yaletown – the memorable dishes included country style pâté (on their appetizer plate), Lois Lake steelhead crusted with fresh herbs and dijon and the West Coast bouillabaisse.
Please note these dishes will be served differently, as these dishes were prepared for a table of bloggers to enjoy.

Another place I’ve been meaning to check out, at the $35 price point, the selections are endless. I’m intrigued by the rabbit they put on the menu – but there are plenty of options for all tastes.
Another newer restaurant in Yaletown, Wildtale’s menu caught my eye with it’s lobster bisque and sturgeon.
