Living on the West Coast means we have an abundance of seafood at the ready. We are pretty concerned and conscious of our seafood consumption than most places. With that in mind, the quality of our seafood is just as important – which I believe makes many seafood restaurants in Vancouver successful. The most recent addition to the scene is The Holy Crab, a Louisiana-style seafood boil restaurant located on Robson street.

If you’ve never experienced a seafood boil, it’s where you put on a bib, gloves and the seafood mix is poured right onto the table and you dig right in with your hands. It’s messy fun.

The seafood available at The Holy Crab includes dungeness crab, king crab, snow crab, lobster, shrimp, crawfish, clams and mussels. All the seafood comes in either the Original Cajun (in various degrees of heat) or Garlic Pepper sauce. Our seafood that evening consisted of mostly the Original Cajun sauce at mild, however we did try the Holy Moly! sauce and the kick is nice. I would say it would be medium if you’re a heat lovin’ yeti like me.

Besides the seafood boil, you can order snacks like onion rings, fish fingers, lobster roll and much more. What interested me the most in the snacks was the addition of crispy soft shell crab and deep fried frog legs.

You can also order sides with your boil, the traditional ones like sausage, sweet corn, nugget potatoes, etc. I really enjoyed their cajun fries.

They also serve fresh oysters, if you want to get your fill on that as well.

The Holiest of Holy Crabs…

I would definitely recommend checking out The Holy Crab if you’re in the area and looking for a fun meal together with friends or family. As you can imagine, seafood boils are a bit on the pricey side ($30+ per person), so it’s great for a special occasion.
