Over the long weekend, Diana, Nathalie, Josh and I hung out to do a little light painting and eating fried chicken. We’ve been meaning to check out High Five Chicken, which has opened recently and is conveniently opened 24 hours.
The space is narrow and there are some places to sit – maybe about 20-30 seats. The menu includes sandwiches, fried chicken and salads. You also have the option of ordering your chicken baked or fried, regular or spicy. The homemade recipes contain no MSG, additives or chemicals/colours.
I ordered the 2 piece chicken meal which was approximately $7.19. It comes with potato wedges and a drink.
The chicken is good, not too greasy. There’s a lot of breading and it’s very crispy. The chicken inside is a little on the dry side, but not too dry. The seasoning is more apparent in this fried chicken compared to other chicken joints. I think I still prefer Churches’ Chicken in terms of the chicken (it’s much juicier), but the potato wedges are much better here. The potato wedges are great – very crispy but still soft on the inside. The seasoning works really well here.
Hi Five Chicken is a good place to grab chicken if you’re in the area. Value-wise, it’s slightly cheaper than Churches Chicken.
