Queen’s Landing is part of the Vintage hotels located in Niagara-on-the-Lake. This area is one of the older neighbourhoods in Canada and they’ve kept Niagara-on-the-Lake in the time period it flourished. I think this is the underlying charm that draws visitors (other than the multiple wineries located in the region). It’s not just a time-stamp from a different time, but an essential part of their being. You’ll find all the modern luxuries of Starbucks and drug stores, but they’re encased in heritage buildings.
Queen’s Landing was once the Old Niagara Harbour and Dock Company, which was later bought by Vintage Hotels and turned into the hotel in the 90s. The hotel was built in the image of the town – Georgian with it’s mouldings and large columns. Although the exterior and interior public area seems very much in the 1900s, the rooms are more modern.
My room had a king bed with comfortable pillows and linens, a flat screen TV, coffee maker and even a fireplace. The washroom has modern detailing and is simple. The room was long and narrow but still felt quite spacious (at least for one person!).
Queen’s Landing is located pretty central to what seems to be the area with the most buzz, and a nice walk to the waterline.
I would recommend staying here if you’re coming in to wine country, it’s a nice, getaway that transports you back into time.
