After our last ultrasound, it felt about right to share the news that Brian and I are expecting a little one come June!

Baby Cheung on the way!

Brian and I are excited and can’t wait to meet them.

A lot of people ask me how my pregnancy has been going so far, and for the most part it’s been pretty good. No morning sickness (yet). I’ve had a couple trips to the Emergency for minor scares. One of most tricky parts of the pregnancy so far was being diagnosed as diabetic early on and having to take insulin (and checking my blood sugar levels 6 times every day) – there are a lot of needles in my day-to-day. The only other weird pregnancy thing is that I can’t listen to the odd Ed Sheeran song without getting emotional (stupid ninjas cutting onions).

I’m not reading any books or anything to ‘prepare’ me for childbirth because I’m a worrier and I know that I’m in really good hands – especially living in Canada where our healthcare is top notch. I completely trust my obstetrician since I’ve been seeing her for almost ten years. I’m in my second trimester (week 24) and I’m nervous but excited for the last half of the pregnancy!

I don’t really miss anything too much diet-wise, I still eat what I love (in moderation) – if anything, being a food blogger has given me an advantage to know what I can and can’t eat and given me more options than I thought possible. There are certain things that I can’t have – alcohol for one – so I look forward to enjoying a nice cocktail when it’s all said and done.

There have been some complications we learned about recently in my pregnancy and it’s been a very rough last couple of weeks, but nothing I’m willing to share at the moment: I’m just taking each day as it comes.

For the last couple months, I’ll be spending it mostly visiting specialists and doctors, deciding how to decorate the nursery and trying to decode the lingo of baby stuff! I can’t wait to meet my lil sweet pea!
