I know it may be a little early to be planning ahead, but that’s just the type of person I am. I’ve been scrolling through so many beautiful nurseries that are spacious, full of natural light and expensive items. Aaaaand…none of that is what I have.

I have a small bedroom that doesn’t get a lot of natural light and is currently masquerading as our storage room (more like random crap room). As we are slowly starting to donate a lot of items in it, I’m already thinking ahead of what I’d like to see in the nursery.

A lot of people have told me that you wont really utilize it until the baby is much older, but I’m going to try and get as much use of it as I possibly can! Some items I want to fix up include replacing the overhead light, adding some colour to the walls somehow and just making it as comfortable as possible.

We’ve already bought our crib and it’s super cute and functional – it’ll turn into a toddler bed. I’m all about multi-functional items since we have such a small space to work with.

I’m thinking of getting wall decals, a dresser/change table in one, a small rug and, if space permits, a rocking chair.

I’d like to make our nursery whimsical and reflect some fun, nerdy things that we enjoy – so a lot of cute stuffies from video games and maybe even a 8-bit gaming mobile for the crib (but I’m being ambitious here).

I started a mood board to get inspired and thought I’d share:

If you have any great tips for me in decorating a small space, I’d love to hear it!
