A couple weeks ago, we were invited to check out 1000 Stories Wine – where we learned a bit more about this Californian small-lot winery that specializes in bourbon barrel-aged Zinfandel.

This particular wine has a beautiful, dark purple colour, is full bodied and is intense on red berries but balanced with some spices including cloves and other dried herbs. What makes it unique is that once it is aged in wine barrels, it’s then moved over to new and used bourbon barrels to complete it’s aging process. This imbues the wine with different depths of flavours including charred vanilla and dried herbs.

You can pick up a bottle of 1000 Stories Zinfandel at your local BC liquor store – it’s priced well at $24.99.

I love pairing Zinfandels with red meats – duck, lamb, hamburgers or steak!
