Tableau is one of those places that everyone keeps raving about and insisting I must go try it – so I happily obliged with Diana, Amy, Nathalie, Nickie and Brian in tow.
I ordered the Mushrooms on Toast ($17) made with creamy mushrooms on brioche and a fried egg on the top.
Brian ordered the Croque Madame & Frites ($16).
Diana and Amy ordered the Eggs Benedicts ($18).
Nathalie ordered a Caesar and I ordered the 1181 ($10) made with gin, elderflower, lemonade and sparkling wine.
I really enjoyed my mushrooms on toast – the mushrooms were just soaked in delicious sauce that was slightly salty and peppery, but meaty. The toast was still crispy but soft and melted in your mouth like butter as it soaked up the mushroom and it’s sauce. The fried egg on the top was a bonus – giving this dish more weight to it – it was perfectly runny as well.
I loved my cocktail as well, it was well balanced – not too sweet and not too harsh from the alcohol.
I’d definitely recommend checking out their brunch menu, I’d be interested to come back and try their dinner menu in the near future!
