I used to live for desserts; the sweeter the better and the more the merrier. As I grew older, the sweet tooth has taken a step back and now I prefer savoury things. This doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy a good cupcake (or 2… or 4) every now and then. Though there were plenty to choose from, I decided to grab something a Salted Caramel Coffee, a Sticky Toffee Pudding and a Butter Tart and then bring home a Carrot Cake, a Rose Black Tea and Peach Bellini Macaron, and one of my favourite desserts: Alfarojes, a caramel sandwich cookie.
I had very high expectations for the Carrot Cake since it’s one of my favourite cakes. I’m happy to report that it delivered beyond my expectations. It’s not overly sweet and there were no huge shards of carrots like some that I’ve had in the past (why choke your customers with huge slivers of carrot, seriously.) The walnuts added a nice crunch and the icing was not overpowering at all. In the same vein, the Salted Caramel Coffee was a delight paired with the Sticky Toffee Pudding. It’s incredibly flavourful and the toffee is to die for. It’s also not a huge portion so it won’t fill you up too much. As for the macarons and the Alfajores, I’m saving them for another snow day. But from the stuff I’ve tasted, I know they will be great as well.
Cupcakes and pastries aside, that’s not all that Bobbette & Belle serves. They also provide custom luxury wedding cakes, french macaron towers, and even wedding favours. But who needs a wedding to celebrate one of their delights? I can have a Drag Race viewing party and get me one of those french macaron towers, because who’s going to stop me? That’s right. Any event is a special event if you really believe.
Could you tell Valentine’s Day is coming up fast?
Check out Bobbette & Belle at their two locations in Leslieville and Yonge & Lawrence area.
