Pastry Chef Fumiko Moreton is a well decorated chef who studied at the Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts and through her work at the Fairmont Vancouver Airport and Terminal City Club, became interested in pastry arts. Fumiko has obtained her red seal and participated in many competitions, along with being the recipient of the Les Dame d’Escoffier Scholarship twice. She brings her talent to the Trump Champagne Lounge at Trump International Hotel & Tower in Vancouver. There, she works on creating the dessert menu for Mott 32, the aforementioned Champagne Lounge and In-Room Dining experiences.
She’s worked previously on some beautiful high tea options – including a Beauty and the Beast themed one which looks so lovely! And now she’s bringing more dessert options to the lounge in hopes to bring in more guests to linger, bring their friends and make a night out of it.
I was recently invited to check out her latest additions to the menu!
You’ll find Chocolate Fondue for Two ($60) – made with Valrhona manjari grand cru single origin 64% and a platter of home-made churros, fruits, marshmallows, financiers and potato chips. The Valrhona Manjari is a nice, darker chocolate that is not bitter but almost slightly tangy. The amount of items on the plate are perfect for two people.
Love you to Pieces! ($30) is probably the most fun – it’s a heart shaped chocolate filled with sweet goodies including chocolates and gummies that comes with a mallet for you to smash open.
If one of my friends were going through a breakup, this is probably where I’d take them.
The Chocolate Charcuterie Board ($20) is a fun twist with chocolate salami, cookies, dried figs and some fruits. The chocolate salami is not too sweet and filled with pistachios and other nuts.
Finally, the show stopper. Seriously, I was gawking at this especially after reading the description. The Trump Sundae for Four ($120). It’s 24 (TWENTY FOUR!!!!) scoops of vanilla, strawberry and chocolate ice cream mixed in with cereal, whipped cream, fruits, gummies, candies, sprinkles, cotton candy, doughnuts, a sugar cookie, marshmallows and chocolate drizzle. This is definitely a fun, special item that is perfect for a birthday or a Friday night indulgence. There’s a lot to unpack here, so bring your appetite.
