We were invited to a holiday pizza party at Rocky Mountain Flatbread! The restaurant offers vegan, vegetarian, and gluten wise options and is completely nut free. Rocky Mountain Flatbread takes pride in providing sustainably produced, local food that connects the farm, family and community.

The holiday pizza making package includes a hosted pizza making station with the option to add craft cocktail making or a tasting of local craft beers. We started the night with party nibbles, a selection of Forno flatbread with house made dips and organic salads.

I had a lot of fun with my friend making cocktails! We made an Earl Grey Gin, which is made from Stump Gin, Earl Grey Tea, Maple Syrup & Lemon Juice and topped with a slice of orange. It was sweet and light. The banter back and forth with the bartender and the two girls next to us made this super fun as we got boozed up. The next drink was super festive – the Cosmonaut. It was made with stool vodka, ginger syrup, lemon juice, cranberry juice, Phillips Sparklemouth Ginger Ale, topped with the colourful and festive wedges of cranberry and lime.

The pizza making component was also something I could enjoy with my coworkers or family. You make a personal pizza as a host guides you in rolling out your dough, spreading house made organic tomato sauce and adding cheese and sauces. I loved the German prosciutto we put on top – it was not salty, but quite sweet. I also loved the vegan gouda option available for the cheese base.

We enjoyed a host of pizzas after and I’d like to highlight the new vegan pizzas. I always am on the prowl for places I can take my vegetarian or vegan friends to, especially during the holiday season:

Forager – Tomato Sauce , vegan smoked gouda, spinach, medlet of local mushrooms, butternut squash, caramelized onions, truffle oil.

Beyond Sausage – Tomato sauce, spinach, artichokes, red bell peppers, vegan beyond sausage, caramelized onions, vegan smoked gouda, hemp heart, balsamic reduction, local grown sunflower sprouts.

With the pizza, pasta and salad, we enjoyed a beer tasting as well. The flight was:

  • 33 Acres of Sunshine – Vancouver, BC.  French blanche style hazy lager, with notes of fruity orange peel & coriander.
  • Four Winds Juxtapose wild IPA, Delta, BC.  Tropical & funky, mango & pineapple notes come together in a mid-sweet, slightly sour hazy IPA.
  • Hoye Dark Matter, Victoria, BC.  Smooth & light porter with rich, roasted grain notes, toffee sweetness & bitter chocolates.
