When I heard that Popeye’s was finally opening a location here in Vancouver, I was thrilled! I enjoy their chicken down in the US whenever I’m there and I wanted to see how it measured up to that experience. Popeyes is located in Port Coquitlam and can get pretty busy (even midweek in the morning, like I found out recently!).

Besides chicken, you can get seafood here too (which is just as good). For my first trip, I ordered the 2 piece combo and the 8 piece family meal.

For the 2 piece combo  ($8.69), you can choose chicken or chicken tenders, it comes with a biscuit and your choice of a side (in this case, I went with fries) and a drink.

The 8 piece family meal ($27.99) comes with your choice of chicken or tenders, your choice of side and 4 biscuits.

The chicken itself is breaded nicely, not too thick, but crispy and not too greasy. It’s got a nice flavour to it and the inside is still tender. The fries are peppered and seasoned and compliment well with the chicken – it didn’t need any ketchup or anything. Finally, the biscuits. I don’t know what they do with them, but they are delicious! They’re a mix of savoury, buttery and salty which makes for a tasty bite.

Overall, I’d say the chicken here is comparable to the US, if not better. The price point is still pretty good – I was thinking it would be more expensive, but it’s still pretty affordable. I love a good fried chicken joint and I’d say that Popeyes, would definitely be my go-to if it wasn’t so far away.
