Dine Out Vancouver is back again with over 300 restaurants this year. As with every year, you’ll find selections in the $15, $25 and $45 range.

In addition to the varied restaurant selection, you’ll find some food tours, interactive dinners and long table dinners, along with the ever popular Street Food City.

This year, I’ve compiled some of the menus and restaurants that piqued my interest – ones that had an interesting menu, have been on my radar to try or are just good ol’ faithful spots.

I’ve compiled them by price:

$15 Menus
It always seems like there aren’t too many in this category and I think it’s a shame. I think a lot of great restaurants could be a part of DOV at this lower price point and still provide some delicious eats.

Popina Canteen
If you haven’t been, you’ll have to try this place out. A passion project between several notable chefs around the city, you’ll get a good sense of their talents – particularly with their popular Puffcreams (which are on the dine out menu!).

Timber
Sister restaurant to locally acclaimed Forage, Timber is offering a simple but Canadian dinner menu – what caught my eye is the Canadian Bison stew and bannock!

$25 Menu
Arike
I’ve been meaning to check out this new-ish restaurant serving up African fare. Honestly, they had me at Oxtail Boudin!

Bells & Whistles
Bells & Whistles is a fantastic neighbourhood spot that serve up solid bar food. I love the Crispy Chicken sandwich.

Kokoro Tokyo Mazesoba
If you haven’t been yet, I really suggest you do! It’s a refreshing break from ramen but still just as warm and filling. Their Dine Out menu highlights their menu and is at a great price point.

Rocky Mountain Flatbread
Rocky Mountain Flatbread has been an institution in each neighbourhood it belongs to for a very long time now and also in Dine Out Vancouver history. They have one of the largest assortments and their food is lovely and conscious. Also, their double chocolate brownie is to die for!

$35 Menu

Chewies Steam & Oyster Bar
I love that Chewies serves items right off their menu rather than sticking to the ol’ steak/fish/chicken options you typically find in DOV menus. They make a mean fried chicken and jambalaya and don’t get me started with their Bourbon Pumpkin Pie.

Dosanko
Another place on my to-eat list – if you don’t go here for DOV, definitely just come here otherwise. What caught my eye was the Shio-Joki Saba and Hoji-cha Panna Cotta.

$45 Menu

AnnaLena

Rated one of the best restaurants in the country – don’t tell me that you haven’t been curious to try it out and see why it’s earned that title! Although they do stick to the typical protein items, the way they are prepared sound interesting and worth the visit!

Atlas Steak + Fish Burnaby
When can you get a steak plus two additional courses for $45? If you haven’t been to this steak house yet, it’s worth a try especially at DOV prices!

Chambar
Chambar is good ol’ faithful when it comes to the DOV fest. You can never go wrong with the menu items here – my favourites are the mussels and braised short ribs.

Forage
Another one of my staple DOV picks, Forage offers a great selection (Canadian Bison, duck breast pastrami to name a few).

L’Abattoir
The food and the space makes a special ocassion type of meal – so if you’re looking for that, I’d recommend it! I’d love to try their smoked quail and mushroom fricassee.

Maenam
Another upscale place in the city – but this time Thai food. The menu is served family style, but there is a lot of selection here.

Restaurant Yugo
We went here last year and wee were intrigued with their menu. Yugo fuses Japanese with French cuisine in a refreshing but unpretentious way. This is definitely on my list of to-eats again this year.
