In a response to supporting one another through this tough time, many restaurant owners, chefs and celebrities across Canada are rallying every Wednesday, deeming it #TakeoutDay. Now if you’re anything like me, almost every day is take out day – but let’s learn how this initiative is happening.
Kicking off on Wednesday, April 15, 2020 we will support our local businesses by ordering take out. Restaurants Canada estimates that 800,000 food service jobs have been lost already and 1 in 10 restaurants have shuttered permanently due to COVID-19 and many more are on the chopping block. Food service sales are down $20 billion (yes, with a B) for Q2 2020.
When I started my blog, I was so happy to visit, experience and learn about all these new and existing restaurants – and I hope to continue when everything returns to normal. In the interim, what we can do is support them in any way we can – that’s ordering in, buying gift cards and even just a like or repost on social media helps push them along.

And remember to be kind to one another!
