I know I’m a little late to the game but Basho Cafe has won over another fan in me. I had a quick meeting here, so I ended up ordering the Afternoon Set that includes sweets and your choice of drinks. I was curious to try the Matcha Cafe Mocha, but it isn’t included in the set – so I opted for a matcha.
Hands down, one of the best matcha lattes I’ve had in the city. It seems like a no brainer since Basho is a family owned Japanese cafe. The matcha latte is a bit more bitter than what most people would be accustomed to from your favourite chain cafe. But it is because of this, I really liked it. Matcha should never be masked with sweetness.
I loved the little matcha cake and madeleine – they were both sweet but not overly so. The sesame cookie was also nice – buttery and had a nice hint of sesame.
I’m eager to come back and try their lunch menu soon!
