During a recent morning in San Francisco, I found myself on McAllister Street, eagerly awaiting the treasures within Arsicault Bakery. Skipping the famously long line at their other location was a smart move, though this one had a line, too. But every minute was worth it for what awaited me: croissants so perfectly flaky and golden that they set a new standard.
Arsicault’s croissants are a dream come true—crispy layers that leave a trail of crumbs, paired with a buttery, brioche-like center that practically melts in your mouth. I couldn’t choose between their almond, ham & cheese, and classic croissants, so I grabbed them all and brought them back to share with my colleagues. Every bite reminded us why Bon Appetit declared Arsicault the best new bakery in the country. We couldn’t stop raving about each flavor and texture, and let’s just say they didn’t last long!
