There were many shows and exhibitions including the Vancouver Magazine Cooking Stage that featured some tips from the best in the city and also a mini market for art and even Portobello West.
For me, the main reason I went to show is because I’m in the process of building a home with my family. I’ve posted a couple photos on the Gastrofork Instagram (and also my own) of the progress – which has been a long time coming but we’re almost at the finish line! I can’t wait to see the finished product and be able to show you what the Gastrofork kitchen will look like.
We hope to use my kitchen space as the main hub for all our videos on Gastrofork that require a kitchen/cooking – and although it’ll be a small space, I’m still really happy to have a central place for all of us to meet and eat together! Right now, we’re working on cabinets, countertops and backsplashes. It’s taking all the effort in me to not buy everything new for my new kitchen – although I’ve been mad side eyeing things at Gourmet Warehouse, Crate + Barrel and practically any place that has kitchen utensils.

At the BC Home and Garden Show, I got to chat with a couple designers that helped me differentiate exotic species of wood, what colour shades would be good for lighting and filming and some ideas on countertops (there are a dizzying amount of different types you can get!).
Hopefully by the time the BC Home and Design Show rolls around, my place will be done and I will be in the stages of decorating it to make it the perfect and humble abode!
