Omg, I did it.

I have told myself that until W is vaccinated, we wont be travelling or dining in – this could be another year away. Since everyone around me has had their second dose, I’m feeling a bit less anxious about sitting outside with people I know and not surrounded by too many. That’s why when Nathalie invited me for lunch, we went early (11am) and sat outside on a very far part of the patio. 

I felt a bit nervous but it was also really nice to feel some sort of normalcy again. 

We visited Bin4 Burger Lounge where their specialty is, of course, burgers. My friends have been raving about their onions rings too, so that was on the must try list.

I ordered the “Big Spenny” ($19.25). It’s stacked with Brant Lake Wagyu, aged cheddar, smoked bacon, pickles, their signature Bin 4 burger sauce, shredded butter lettuce and tomato. You also get to pick your sides (I substituted for red onion rings $3 extra) and a dip – I went with the truffle aioli.

I loved the burger as it’s entirety – as it was flavourful and a good portion. Though the ingredients are simple, theres no need to overcomplicate a burger sometimes. The beef is good and tender and I liked the amount of bacon on my burger. 

I suppose there was so much hype for the red onion rings that I had some pretty high expectations – but don’t get me wrong, they were good, but they weren’t anything incredibly special. I like the crispiness and the less onion-y taste of the red onion. The sprinkle of parmesan gave it a deeper flavour. 

Nathalie ordered the “Wild Mushroom” (1/3lb $17.25) made with 63 Acres Premium BC Beef, wild mushrooms, garlic, cream, truffle oil, parmigiano, truffle aioli, baby arugula and tomato – also with a side of the red onion rings. She liked the taste of her burger and the stack of mushrooms. The truffle oil, garlic and cream really helped round out this burger as well.

Nathalie has told me that bin 4 has happy hour specials which include discounted burgers – so we’ll definitely be back for that!
