It really is a shame that there is so much construction going on in English Bay because Boathouse has got to be one of the best views. I was here on a bridal shower, I don’t even remember the last time I was here, but I’m sure it’s been about 5-6 years (yikes!).

Our server was entertaining and probably the most memorable thing that evening, he was very knowledgeable about the menu and even suggested certain things.

I ordered the Coconut Pacific Cod which falls under their “Westcoast Lifestyle Choices” being under 700 calories and less sodium – not that I was really minding my calories, I just wanted quinoa and the coconut lime flavouring sounded delicious. My plate had a lot of veggies (peas, book choy, green and red peppers) hiding my cod.

The serving size of the cod was decent, which was a bit surprising. My cod was tender and soft when cut through with a fork, lightly seasoned. The quinoa underneath was where most of the flavour was hiding. The quinoa was soft, spongey and had a slight taste of the coconut and lime. Maybe it was because I ordered off the “choices” menu, but I felt my food was a little bland.

The other girls had the Maple Roasted Chicken (pictured above) and the bride to be had a steak (I’m not entirely sure which one it was – pictured below).

Food:
Our food portions seemed a little small. Nothing too spectacular here in terms of taste and presentation either.

Ambiance:
What a gorgeous view of English Bay, the only problem was the construction but nothing they can do about that.

Value:
I think you’re really paying for the view and not much else. I can think of other places along this area that offer you the same view but with better food.

Service:
Although our server was entertaining, our drinks took a long time to get to us (20 minutes) and so did our dinner.
