Nathalie De Los Santos (she/they) is a writer and creative. She is one of the festival organizers of the Filipino-Canadian Book Festival. She created PilipinxPages, a bookstagram featuring Filipinx authors. She has appeared on: PechaKucha, CBC, LiterAsian (2020), TFC, OMNI TV and others. My visit to Brenda’s French Soul Food was a celebration of comfort and flavor! Known for its blend of Southern, Creole, and French cuisines, Brenda’s delivers that soulful, New Orleans-inspired taste in every dish. I ordered the fried chicken, which was perfectly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside—a true classic. The highlight, though, was the jambalaya, which I lucked out on as it was a special that day. Rich, spicy, and loaded with flavor, it was everything you’d hope for in a dish straight from the heart of Louisiana.

Brenda’s has transformed a cozy spot in San Francisco’s Tenderloin into a destination where every bite brings a little warmth and nostalgia. Whether you’re a fan of soulful classics or exploring for the first time, this is a place that truly lives up to its reputation.
