At the recent Cornucopia, we attended Bubblelicious, a seminar that focuses on sparkling wines that range from different styles and price points! Daenna Van Mulligen walked us through several wines:

Bottega Prosecco Brut DOC
Fragrant with apple, pear, citrus and a crisp, refreshing finish. Light and fruity is the simplistic way to describe this Prosecco, it makes me want to drink this on a patio on a summer day.

Casa di Malia Prosecco Organic
Floral on the nose, the fruit notes are banana and apple. For its delicious and fresh body, I would recommend pairing this with food like appetizers.

Villa Sandi Asolo Prosecco Superiore DOCG Brut
Not sure why, but this made me want to have prosciutto. Perhaps it’s the pear and apple notes, but I could drink this nice prosecco without food as well.

Mezza di Mezzacorona
This prosecco was smooth while being crisp and acidic. Fresh, fleeting flavours of peach and melon, apple and pear.

Segura Viudas Brut Reserva Cava
This one was probably my favourite, perhaps because it was dry toasty and nutty as well as having a sweet layer to it – apple and something nutty.

Bernard Massard Cuvee de L’Ecuson Brut
I wanted seafood with this one! (Where’s my cocktail shrimp!?) Similar to the wine prior, it was sweet with some toasted aroma to it, almost buttery.

Joie Farm Quotiden Brut
There was something tart and crisp about this. Green apple, lemon curd, mixed with sweeter elements like yellow apples, apricots, and maybe a hint of butter.

Anthonij Rupert L’Ormains Blanc de Blancs
Zesty, caramel, some breadiness to it. There is a lot of citrus to this one, and it is tangy. This might be a good dessert wine, though I’m thinking if I had a grilled squid or something, I’d find this wine.

Blue Mountain Gold Label Brut
My second favourite. I’m liking the toasty proseccos. It is crisp and has a lemon finish, which makes this very fresh and also a great wine to pair with food or snacks.

Cono Sur Brut Rose
This probably is my favourite budget wine out of this all. Raspberry, rhubarb and dry with a medium body.

Domaine Carneros Cuvee de La Pompadour Rose
Enjoy this wine at a young age – if you age it, you lose its fruity flavours. The aroma is like strawberries, roses and peaches. All you need is it to be summer and some hot pool boy to be serving you this wine while you lie in the hot sun enjoying it.
