During April 4-10, $1 from every dessert purchased at Cactus Club Cafes across Canada will be donated to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
If you’re unfamiliar with the Make-A-Wish Foundation, they support children living with life threatening illnesses by granting wishes the children make. This year, Cactus Club will raise funds during their Sweet Dreams Dessert week for Morgan, a 13 year old who wishes to go to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Florida with her family.
As you know, I’m a big fan of giving back, so I’d definitely recommend you check out Cactus Club and this initiative while you can!
My favourite desserts from Cactus Club Cafe are the Chocolate Peanut Butter Crunch Bar, Chocolate Lava Cake and their Key Lime Pie.
Their Chocolate Peanut Butter Crunch Bar, made with Tahitian vanilla ice cream, caramel sauce and crunchy chocolate pearls – this decadent delight is so filling, it’s perfect if you’re a chocolate lover (which I am).
The Chocolate Lava Cake is served with raspberry coulis and Tahitian vanilla ice cream and was the popular pick at the table. It’s crunchy exterior is met with a nice oozy fudgey middle. The raspberry cuts the heaviness without being tart.
Finally, their Key Lime Pie – made with freshly squeezed key limes, a graham cracker crust and hand whipped cream. Generally, I’m not a fan of of citrus desserts, but I really enjoyed this pie. It wasn’t too sour, but had a nice light hint of key lime. The pie has a nice weight to it without being too heavy. This is perfect for Spring/Summer.
