There are a couple of Cora’s in BC including Richmond (in Ironwood Plaza) and in Coquitlam (not too far from the Coquitlam Mall). Since it was my birthday, Brian (Mr. I-Dont-Do-Breakfast 😉 ) bit the bullet, woke up early on his day off (what a sport!) and took me to Cora’s in Coquitlam.
As I imagined, Cora’s was packed with people. We waited for about 5-10 minutes, which wasn’t so bad. The restaurant attracted so many different walks of life including seniors, friends catching up and mostly a lot of families with babies. Oh and us couples who like to breakfast.
The menu is bright and full of delicious pictures (my favourite kind of menu). We were brought some water right away and we also ordered some orange juice to start us off.
Brian ordered the Eggs Ben et Dictine with Smoked Salmon. It’s served with some roasted potatoes and fresh fruit. He also ordered some mushrooms to top it off. The plate was massive and decorated with sliced fruit. The bennys were a decent portion and the Hollandaise was good.
I ordered the Strawberries Waffle. I love waffles. In fact, I was thinking lately that I should just buy a waffle maker and make waffles at home. My waffle is served with a ridiculous, heaping pile of strawberries, strawberry coulis and custard. I could barely finish all the strawberries atop my big waffle – which is a bit of a shock considering how much I love strawberries!
I like the custard layer between the strawberry and waffle, as it made it more filling and sweet. However, I’m probably going to ask them for it on the side the next time I’m back because it did make my waffle a little soggy.
Just for your information, Cora is only open for breakfast and lunch (so never really past 4pm, depending on the location). If you’re looking for a healthier and fun breakfast, this is one of the best places to go.
