Brian and I were in Maui for Nicole’s wedding this past end October. The last time we were in Maui was a couple years back for one of our other friend’s wedding. During our first time in Maui, we got to check out Ko at the Fairmont Kea Lani and when I walked into the Fairmont, I had to scoop my jaw off of the floor. It was so beautiful! If there was a definition of being in paradise, surely, this would be it.

I told Brian then and there that the next time we were in Maui, we MUST stay here, even if it’s only for one night because it was so gorgeous.

Now jump forward to this year and reconnecting with the Fairmont through a random email which turned into an invitation to stay at a very modest price. Um, how could I say no? Especially after I had made that promise!

As you walk in to the resort, you’ll notice that there are no doors. Yep, it’s open air with high arches so you can see right through to the beach. Is this real life? I had to keep asking myself that same question as we checked in and made our way to our suite.

The Fairmont Kea Lani is all suites or villas and I’m pretty sure there isn’t a bad view on the property.

When you walk into the suite, you’re in the foyer that houses the mini bar, fridge, Keurig coffee maker and an assortment of teas. Further in is the living room area that features a comfortable long couch, tv and desk (if you feel so compelled to work while you’re there).

The view is breathtaking. The property sprawls on green, well kept grass and palm trees. There are a couple pools and the beautiful blue ocean lapping not too far away.

Every suite is equipped with a lanai (balcony) that is large enough to house a lounge chair and a table with chairs.

Back inside, the master bedroom is large and puts my bedroom at home to shame. This huge bed is comfortable and inviting with it’s crisp white sheets. Not too sure if it was on purpose, but one clock was set to Vancouver time and the other, local time.

The washroom is enormous as well and they make good use of this interesting angular space. The toilet is tucked away in it’s small area that you can close off with a door, there are two pedestal sinks well stocked with soaps, hair products and more. There is a large soaker tub that is heavenly. There is a walk in stone shower that is super cool – if I had that much room in my own place, I’d install one in a heartbeat!

The property includes a couple places to grab a meal – including Ko and Kea Lani restaurant. But more on that in a little bit. There are a couple pools – one is all ages, complete with a water slide that seemed to be super popular with the kids.

We went to check out the adult only pool and it was stunning. It isn’t too deep (maybe 3-4 ft tops) but deep enough to do laps or lounge around. There are covered cabanas and towel service.

If that wasn’t enough, there are daily activities you can participate in, a spa to check out and so much more.

I’d definitely recommend staying here – especially if you are celebrating!
