I can’t believe it’s almost been a year since we moved in to our new place. As we draw closer to our one year house-iversary, I’m vowing in the next year to fill my home and make it a cozy, welcoming space. Right now (although better than when we initially moved in) I feel like my house is looking a little bare. I’ve been collecting some art to put up on the walls but there is so much I want to do. Wallpaper, painting, trying to figure out how to make a live edge mantle, learning how to make the most of small spaces..the list could go on. One of the shows I’m excited to check out this year is the Vancouver Home and Design Show.
If you’re renovating, building a new home or just curious – the Vancouver Home + Design Show is a good place to start the search. Thinking back to the building of our home, there were a lot of options we could’ve gone with, but really no idea where to start. The VHDS features everything you could possibly need for your home – from builders and contractors, to garden items, home decor, pet products…While the interwebs is a great resource for ideas, it’s even better to have a one on one with experts and get their opinion and tips on design and building.
The VHDS also highlights great chefs and producers in Vancouver on the Samsung Cooking Stage. This involves cooking demonstrations and the chance to get to know your favourite local producers including Adam Chandler of Beta 5 Chocolates, Steven Ewing of Yolk’s Resaurant and Commissary and Deniz Tarakcioglu of Medina Cafe.
I’m excited to go check it out and see what’s new in the market and how to innovate where I live. I really want to implement smart home features like Nest and other energy saving initiatives, so I can’t wait to see what the show has this year. The Vancouver Home and Design Show runs from October 27 – 30th at the Vancouver Convention Centre.
