I come to Gyudon Ya often, and I realized I never blogged about them! This would be my quick, cheap dinner if I was going to events downtown coming from Burnaby, when I worked at EA. I didn’t realize how close I was to them at my new work in Crosstown.

It’s simple food: meat and rice. I love getting the beef bowl, covering it in spicy sauce, mayo and Shichimi Togarashi. I also love the mabo tofu bowl second, as it’s already spicy and the tofu fills me up quite fast. Whenever I order spicy tofu, it’s always in big chunks elsewhere, so I like how it’s in tiny bits you can eat in heaps. I also love how I can get a Sapporo as well, especially on nights when I am about to go out.

Again, this place isn’t super gourmet or fancy. I have a little soft spot for this place, as I feel like it’s super home-y and welcoming. Plus, I sometimes don’t want complicated, state of the art meals for dinner, especially if I’m just running to get to an event. The staff are usually always friendly and the service is generally fast. The only time I had to wait was just once, and that was because the whole restaurant was packed.

I would recommend this for a good quick eat, but maybe not if you’re on a date.
