Japadog is a Vancity must. If you are a Vancouverite or if you’re visiting – Japadog should be on your list of things to try.

SuperLuxi and I went to the store they opened up not too long ago along Robson near the H-Mart. It was late and they were closing, but we managed to snag the two popular flavours, Terimayo & Oroshi.

Now the store itself is a little pricier than the stands, but it’s open later than the stands and open 7 days a week. They also serve fries at this location with different flavouring and “dessert” dogs made with fried bananas and chocolate.

The Terimayo (left) is made with a smokie, japanese mayo, teriyaki sauce, fried onions and seaweed. It is by far my favourite – it tastes even better with wasabi mayo.

The Oroshi (the one on the right) is another popular selection, made with a bratwurst, green onion, grated radish and special soy sauce. I found this one to be sweeter than the Terimayo and loaded with grated radish. The bratworst was tender and sweet.

Food:
It’s not exactly fine dining, but it is definitely an experience. Flavourful and interesting ingredients mixed together.

Ambiance:
The Robson store is fairly small, fitting about maybe 25 people inside. It’s bar stools and small tables, but it’s quaint and does its job.

Value:
Because this is a store, they must pay rent. And because they pay rent, they need to up the price a bit. Still worth the try!

Service:
The service at Japadog is always great, they’re always happy and smiling. They’re normally very busy so there is a bit of a wait.
