Adding to the ice cream craze is Magicream – a customizable ice cream shop located in Kerrisdale. Your first choice is either going with a 12% milk base or the non-dairy sorbet. From here, you choose the flavour of your ice cream creation – there’s classics like vanilla and chocolate, black sesame, taro and so on.
There is a huge variety of different toppings including brownies, cookies, fruits (blueberries, strawberries), syrups…so many different flavours.
After choosing all these, it’s time to mix it all together using liquid nitrogen – a process that created a smooth and creamy ice cream.
If you’re feeling indecisive, there are already set flavours you can choose that are just as delicious.
My favourite set flavours are: root beer ice cream, coffee with cookie dough and mochi and the milk tea with pearls and mango jelly.
The ice cream was deliciously smooth and creamy, but not too heavy tasting. I really enjoyed the many Asian flavours available here (like the milk tea with pearls), but also the rootbeer and coffee which are nice and strong in flavour but not overwhelmingly so that you can’t enjoy the sweetness of the ice cream overall.
Pricing is pretty consistent of the nitrogen-ice cream variety: $5.50 for a regular size, $7.50 for a medium and $9 for “family size”. Family size can definitely feed 2-3 kids, or one hungry food blogger!
