I came here recently with a co-worker during lunch, thinking it wouldn’t be too bad midweek – but surprise! Nuba is always busy. Serving up Lebanese dishes that are filling, modern and healthy, there is no reason for it not to be busy in a health conscious city like Vancouver.
I ordered my go to dish, Najib’s Special ($14.50). The plate is served with hummus, salad, pickled cabbage, olives, pita and either organic brown rice or roasted potatoes (or both if you ask!). Najib’s Special is essentially deep fried cauliflower seasoned with lemon and sea salt. The crunchy, salty yet tart flavour keeps my tastebuds coming back for more.
And if you’re wondering if you’ll be full off this plate – you definitely will be. Between the cauliflower, rice, potatoes, chickpeas and hummus – you’ll assuredly leave with a happy tummy.
The space is on the small side, but still roomy. What I like about this location is that they have a bar so that you can eat by yourself if you’d like. While they were busy during lunch, service can be a little slower, but doable if you have an hour-ish lunch to kill.
