It’s been a while since I’ve been to Peaceful – not because I’ve been actively avoiding it, but I’m barely in the area. My last visit to a Peaceful restaurant was less than stellar, but I wouldn’t base my experience from one location to another.
The Seymour location is right on the corner near the Granville skytrain station and BCIT, so it’s pretty easy to get to. The space is high ceiling and there is a good amount of seating. The space is somewhat new, as it doesnt look worn down like it counterparts.
Nathalie and I ordered the Sichuan Beef Soup Noodles and Xiao Long Bao to share.
The Sichuan Beef Soup Noodles ($10.95) is a very good portion – I’m surprised how much beef they gave us in the soup. The beef itself was a nice mix of fatty and meaty, tender and not too salty. The noodles had a good snap to them and a nice flavour. The soup broth itself, although dark, was not too salty and had a tasty, slight tang to it that was enjoyable. Mixed in the soup is spinach, cilantro and sprouts for added crunch.
Our Xiao Long Bao ($7.95) came with 8 pieces. The size of the baos are great – not too big and not too small. The aspic inside was still quite hot and very flavourful. The meat was good too, a bit on the salty side but was easily cut with the vinegary dipping sauce that accompanies all XLBs.
The service was good: quick, friendly but not too intrusive. I’d definitely come back here again if I was in the area.
