Kitsilano has a lot of good things going for it – the beach, the scenery, the great food – if you were looking for a spot to show someone the typical West Coast/Vancouver lifestyle – Kits would be THE place. And while Kitsilano does have some great donuts, I couldn’t think of an ice cream shop off the top of my head. But that’s where Rain or Shine comes in – to fill a void in the ice cream category in Kitsilano.

Their ice cream is very Vancouver – made naturally, locally and from fresh whole ingredients that are often in season and if possible – organic as well. Everything is made from scratch. What makes them different from their competitors would have to be some of the flavours they offer, the fact that they make your waffle cone pretty much when you order, they sell a waffle taco AND they have ice cream flights.

Not going to lie, I was super tempted to get an ice cream flight but I’ll have to save it for next time I’m in the area. You can also get their ice cream to go and also in milkshake form.

With flavours like Blueberry Balsamic, Honey Lavender, Brassneck Imperial Stout – they definitely do have some interesting combinations to try out! They offer a variety of toppings as well including candied hazelnuts, blood orange olive oil, fig balsamic reduction to name a few.

I wanted their Salted Caramel, but they were sold out so I went with the chocolate. It was good, but I’d love to come back to try their more interesting flavours in the weeks to come.

I was really impressed because the lineup was out the door but it went pretty fast, they were also pretty friendly too.
