When in Vegas, there are many things that are just excessive as that is the name of the game. You’ve got buffets, large food portions, gaudy shows and the hustle and bustle of the strip. But what a delight it is find a fantastical spot that serves up killer cocktails, curious food and live entertainment every evening. This spot I speak of is Rose.Rabbit.Lie, you might have missed it making a b-line to the Wicked Spoon buffet, but it’s unmistakable.
Rose.Rabbit.Lie is a higher end supper club that serves up more interesting dishes on the menu, including the indulgent Caviar Tacos. I took Liane here for her birthday (although a late birthday dinner!). We had to order a Caviar Taco ($15, unless you order it with the Golden Osetra Caviar, then it’s $47 each taco).
The taco is miniature (as you can see in the photo I held up my fork for comparison). There’s nothing more indulgent than enjoying caviar on vacation!
We then ordered the Wagyu Steak Tartare ($18). The buttery steak is served with beef chicharron, cornichons and savoury globules of mayonaise. I loved the dreamy looking puffs of chicharron as it contrasted with the tender, slightly tangy wagyu.
We ordered a couple drinks as well: Whiskey Smash and American Beauty. The Whiskey Smash is created with Redemption rye whiskey, muddled lemon, fresh fruit and mint. It’s definitely a smokey/spicy drink but very enjoyable. Liane ordered the American Beauty made with spiced pear, coconut vodka, chai, lemon, poppy seed bitter and ginger fizz – a nicely balanced, slightly sweet cocktail that was easy to drink.
The Roasted Chicken ($24) has a nice crispy skin with the chicken still tender on the inside. The gnocchi underneath was good, as well with the charred broccoli in the basil pesto sauce.
Our Duck Confit pasta is served with spinach, parmagiano cream and white wine. The duck pieces were nice and tender and went well with the creaminess from the sauce.
Finally, dessert. It was the show stopper of the night: The Chocolate Terrarium ($35).
Made with chocolate pudding, chocolate buttermilk cake, chocolate “soil”, puffed wild rice, crispy chocolate tuile and hazelnut ice cream.
The plating on this is beautiful and it felt a bit of a shame to tear it down to eat. This dessert is a chocolate lover’s paradise – but the great thing about it is that it’s not overly sweet, so that you can enjoy the entire thing. I think it’s perfect for sharing between 2-3 people.
What really rounded out this experience was of course the live music – there is a live band and performers throughout the evening that would walk around the supper club and interact with diners. The music was fantastic, so much so that several couples went to dance near the band. These are the kind of experiences I truly enjoy and Rose.Rabbit.Lie will always be a must whenever I travel to Vegas.
