The highlight of our Salt Spring Trip was our stay at Above the Narrows B&B. Joe and Dianne were amazing hosts, and we felt at ease in this beautiful home on the hill north of Salt Spring’s harbour. Our guest room had a southerly ocean view above Sansum Narrows, that showed us a stunning view of Vancouver Island.

In the morning, my husband and I would watch the sun rise from this gorgeous view, and Joe would bring us coffee by the firepit, and both him and Dianne would serve us breakfast following. We had the most delicious eggs benedict on the first morning, and French toast on the second morning! Joe is a retired CPA in the hospitality industry and former IT executive, and Dianne is a practising family physician here on Salt Spring Island.

I came to Salt Spring to teach a class at the Paper Covers Rock Festival, which Joe and Dianne supported by hosting writers like me. Another writer stayed in the other guest room, who was so lovely to chat with while we were there! We would have a lovely conversation all together over breakfast, and Dianne even came to support us at the festival!

Joe suggested a lot of fun things to do around town, and helped me and my partner find an EV charger at the gas station when we needed one. The two hosts are very loving and caring, and you definitely feel a personal touch and warmth to your stay at this B&B.

In the evening, my husband and I would enjoy some cider by the firepit, and when it got late enough, we would star gaze on the private terrace outside our room. And the views from inside the home were equally stunning—the large windows that are present in the guest room and the main living room area lets in a lot of beautiful natural light with a stunning view!

My partner loves nature and being away from the hustle and bustle of the city. There were deer and rabbits that frolicked around near us, and some beautiful trails nearby.

He loved the quiet, slow easy living in the community surrounding Above the Narrows. We both want to return in the future for relaxation trips as a couple, as we felt rejuvenated after this trip!

Thank you so much to Joe and Dianne for their hospitality and for donating the room to the festival, so we could enjoy this trip with this beautiful stay! We are so grateful to you both.
