Solly’s Bagelry is Vancouver institution that I wish I blogged about sooner. Ever since my friend Yana introduced me to this delicious place, I have been frequenting it for almost 7 years. Now they have a couple locations (Main street, one off Cambie and in Kits).

Solly’s offers traditional Jewish baked goods, bagels and they even have sandwiches and soups. While they are all great, my absolute favourite item is their Babka buns.

Babkas are similar to cinnamon buns but made with chocolate. They had me at chocolate. The consistency of the bread is about the same, they also put a little bit of powdered sugar and a bit of chocolate on the top. It’s not overly sweet, so it’s quite enjoyable. It’s best enjoyed warm!

They also have great cinnamon buns, you can order some cream cheese icing on the side, but it’s fairly good on its own!

They also have a formidable lemon pound cake.

If you haven’t been to Solly’s, make sure to put it on your list – their babkas are the best.
